What
we do

MMWhat we do

Mentoring Matters is a pioneering, non-profit organisation that aims to redress the balance of equity and opportunity within the creative industries. Working from the grass roots up to promote broad and meaningful impact that can empower a wide range of participants and businesses. We work to avoid surface contributions and forge deeper in an attempt to tackle real systemic change.

Created for candidates from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, we utilise a variety of innovative, transformative methods to uplift our candidates into the workplace. We create a support system that they can rely on and benefit from as they navigate their career path. We have cultivated a genuine community for change and given our candidates access to a network that previously existed for only a privileged few.

We offer our global alumni access to mentoring, paid opportunities and a wealth of educational resources, including workshops and advice. Along the way, we make the journey as fun and meaningful as possible with various benefits and inspirational experiences to create transformational positive change. We empower our candidates via a long term uplifting, supportive community where they can connect, collaborate and gain peer advice. By implementing our methods and joining with like minded businesses and individuals we aim to reshape the future, promoting a more equitable, informed and exciting industry for us all.

MMCommunity

Our community is the heart of everything we do. Our MM Alumni network spans across the globe, from New Zealand to the US, India, and beyond. Through meaningful connections, we inspire collaboration, foster peer-to-peer support, and build lasting friendships. Through our Alumni Message Hub, we offer access to exclusive events, job opportunities, and a space for open discussion, where members can share advice, insights, and encouragement. We are committed to nurturing a network that evolves together, helping each other achieve both personal and professional goals.

While our primary focus is on racial equity, our alumni community is diverse within that framework, welcoming people from all economic backgrounds, beliefs, gender identities, and neurodiverse experiences. We strive to create a safe, inclusive, and celebratory space where every member feels supported and valued. Our goal is to continuously grow this community of inspiration, empowerment, and connection, and to create a future where everyone can thrive together.
